Accessibility Statement

The website of Dr. Asnat Goldfarb-Arzuan – musicologist, an Israeli popular music researcher, lecturer, workshop facilitator, leader of musical tours– aims to provide the best user experience to the general public, including individuals with disabilities, in order to facilitate and streamline site usage, with a particular focus on the needs of people with disabilities.

The site has been made accessible and adapted with the necessary technological aids for this purpose.

In order to suit your requirements, should you encounter any compatibility issues, I would greatly appreciate your feedback for improvement and correction. Please feel free to send your feedback and any further suggestions can be sent to us via email using the contact page of the website.

We strongly believe that the internet should be accessible to everyone and are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability.

To achieve this, we strive to adhere as closely as possible to the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities. Meeting these guidelines helps us ensure that the site is accessible to blind people, people with motor impairments, visual impairments, cognitive impairments, and more.

This site uses various technologies designed to make it as accessible as possible at all times. We use an accessibility interface that allows people with specific disabilities to customize the user interface (UI) of the site and tailor it to their personal needs.

In addition, the site uses an AI-based application that runs in the background and continuously optimizes its accessibility level. This application fixes the site’s HTML, adapts its functionality and behavior for screen readers used by blind users, and for keyboard functions used by people with motor impairments.

Screen Reader and Keyboard Navigation Optimization

Our site implements the ARIA attributes (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) technique, along with various behavioral changes, to ensure that blind users visiting with screen readers can read, understand, and enjoy the site’s functions. Once a screen reader user enters your site, they are immediately prompted to enter the screen reader profile so that they can browse and operate your site effectively. This is how our site covers some of the most important screen reader requirements:

  • Screen Reader Optimization: We run a process that learns the site’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compatibility even when updating the site. In this process, we provide screen readers with meaningful data using the ARIA feature system. For example, we provide accurate form labels; descriptions of actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation prompts for form input; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal dialogues (pop-ups), and others.

In addition, the background process scans all site images. It provides an accurate and meaningful image-object-recognition-based description as ALT text (alternative text) for images that are not described. It will also extract texts embedded within the image using OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology. To activate screen reader adjustments at any time, users only need to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen reader users also receive automatic notifications to activate screen reader mode once they enter the site.

These adjustments are compatible with popular screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.

  • Keyboard Navigation Optimization: The background process also adapts the site’s HTML and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the site keyboard-operable. This includes the ability to navigate the site using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, open drop-down menus with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, activate buttons and links with the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the spacebar or Enter key.

In addition, keyboard users will find skip-content menus available at all times by pressing Alt+2, or as the first site element when navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles pop-ups activated by moving keyboard focus to them once they appear, and does not allow focus to drift outside.

Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

Supported Disability Profiles on Our Website:

  • Safe Epilepsy Profile: This profile allows people with epilepsy to use the site safely by eliminating the risk of seizures caused by flashing or flashing lights and dangerous color combinations.
  • Low Vision Profile: This profile adapts the site to be accessible to most vision impairments such as low vision, tunnel vision, cataracts, glaucoma, and others.
  • Cognitive Impairment Profile: This profile provides various assistive features to help users with cognitive impairments such as autism, dyslexia, CVA, and others, focus on the essential components more easily.
  • ADHD Friendly Profile: This profile significantly reduces distractions and noise to help people with ADHD and neurodevelopmental disorders browse, read, and focus on the essential components more easily.
  • Blind Users Profile (Screen Readers): This profile adapts the site to be compatible with screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack. A screen reader is installed on the blind user’s computer, and this site is compatible with it.
  • Keyboard Navigation Profile (Motor Impaired): This profile allows people with motor impairments to operate the site using Tab, Shift+Tab, and Enter
